Veterans For Fishing inaugural tour of Lake Eildon

The inaugural Veterans For Fishing Tour of Lake Eildon is a fishing competition that directly supports Veterans of the Australian Defence Forces. The competition is conducted by a group of dedicated ex-service personnel who volunteer directly to help veterans and their families who may be experiencing Social Isolation, Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome or Mental Health Issues. All funds raised through the competition go directly to helping Veterans engage in the therapeutic activity of fishing, to foster mental well-being, be part of the camaraderie, and to assist their healing.

The Veterans For Fishing Tour of Lake Eildon is one of the growing annual angling competitions operating from the foreshore of Australia’s Premier Native and Trout Fishery, being Lake Eildon. Lake Eildon boasts over 500 kilometres of foreshore, contains 6 times the water volume of Sydney Harbour, is only a short 1.5- hour drive from Melbourne, has a growing national and international angling visitor base due to the efforts of the Victorian State Government’s Target 1 Million and the Victorian Fisheries Authority Fish Stocking Program. The area is also growing in popularity due to Four-Wheel Driving, Houseboating, Trail Bike Riding, Prospecting, Wakeboarding, Wake Surfing, Water Skiing, and Sightseeing.

The Veterans For Fishing Tour Of Lake Eildon is an annual Charity Event with proceeds going directly to help Veterans in need. This 2025 event will run from the 3rd to the 5th of October and is hosted by the Jerusalem Creek Marina and Holiday Park. Jerusalem Creek boasts 2 Boat Ramps, Boatel on water accommodation, 200 Annual Cabins, a Houseboat Marina, Bar and Grill, Campgrounds, Hire Houseboats, Hire Fishing Vessels, Bait-Tackle-Chandlery-Ski Shop, Guided Fishing Tours and caters for up to 1000 daily visitors during the peak holiday seasons. Avid anglers utilise the facilities all year round due to the mid-winter abundance of trophy-sized Murray Cod and Trout.
